You know that everyone always says during Christmas that Jesus is
the reason for the season well, It goes for Easter too! We always get so
caught up in our everyday lives and seem to forget why we celebrate these
holidays. Easter is a time of looking down deep in our souls and asking God
to forgive us for all that we have done not in his name. You know he will
if you let Jesus in your heart and walk in the way that the Lord wants us
to. Try to tell someone everyday about Jesus and what he has done for us.
Jesus loves all the little children in the world. This includes you
and me. He loved us so much that he died on the cross forgiving all our sins.
He wants us all to love him too.
This is a true story of something that happened just a few
years ago at USC.
There was a professor of philosophy there who was deeply committed
atheist. His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire
semester attempting to prove that God couldn't exist. His students were always
afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic. For twenty years
,he taught this class and no one had ever had the courage to go against him.
Sure, some had agrued in class at times, but no one had ever 'really gone
against him.' Nobody would stand against him because he had a reputation
that on the last day of every semester he would say to his class of 300 students,
"If there is anyone here who still believes in God, stand up!"
In twenty years, no one had ever stood up. They knew that next
he say, "Anyone who still believes in God is a fool. If God existed ,he could
stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground and breaking. Such a simple
task to prove that he is God, and yet he can't do it." And every year
,he would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the classroom and it would
shatter into a hundred of pieces. The students could do nothing but silently
stare. Most of the students were convinced that God couldn't exist. Certainly,
a number of Christians had slipped through his class, but for twenty years,
they had been to afraid to stand up.
Well, a few years ago, there was a freshman who enrolled in the class.
He was a Christian, and heard the stories about the professor. He had to
take the class because it was required for his major, but he was afraid.
For the entire semester, he prayed every morning that he would have the courage
to stand up no matter what the professor said or what the class thought.
Nothing they said or did could ever shatter his faith he
hoped.
Finally the day came. The professor said, "If there is anyone who
still believes in God, stand up!" The professor and the class of 300 people
looked at him, shocked, as the young man slowly and cautionsly stood up in
the back of the classroom. The professor shouted, "You FOOL!! If God existed,
he could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground!" The freshman
replied, "You can call me a fool, but I know that somehow, some way, God
is going to prevent that piece of chalk from breaking. But even if he doesn't,
I will always believe that God exists and has control over everything." The
professor was so surprised at this bold statement, that the chalk slipped
out of his fingers, off his shirt cuff, into the pleat of his pants, down
his leg, and off his shoe. It hit the ground and rolled away, unbroken. The
professor turned pale and started to tremble as he stared at the chalk. He
looked up with tears welling up in his eyes, and then ran out of the lecture
hall. He NEVER returned. The young man walked to the front of the room and
shared his faith for the next half hour. All 300 students remained, listening
as he told of God's love for them and and of JESUS.....
"Yet to all who received Him, to those who believe in His name, He
gave the right to become children of God--children born not of natural descent,
nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." "But HE knows
the way that I take. When He has tested me, I will come forth as gold."
Job 23:10
